All Sorts!

Hi Parents,

In our maths this week we are focusing on sorting. The children are using colour, size, shape and other characteristics to compare and sort objects. See the photos below of the sorting we have been doing...

How can you do this at home?

Help sort the shopping by:
  • shape and size (tall boxes fit on this shelf)
  • hot and cold (cold things need to go in the fridge)
  • type or use (washing powder needs to go in the laundry).

Help sort the toys by:
  • size (small, big, tall, short, thick, thin, wide)
  • colour (red, blue, yellow, green, black, white …)
  • shape (round, square, curved, straight)
  • opposites (hot/cold, tall/short, thick/thin)

Help sort the washing:
  • colour
  • items (socks, uniforms, tops)
  • size (small, big)
  • owner (mum, dad, child)

Remember to talk about ways you can describe what you have sorted and use the language or sorting above. We would love to hear comments or see photos that show how you are exploring this at home with your child!

Have fun and happy sorting!
