Chick number 4 hatches!

There was lots of excitement in Kindergarten today at lunch time as we watched the chick hatch from its egg. We noticed that the chick came out looking all sweaty and wet and looked very weak. We learnt that in the egg there is a chick and a yolk. The chick eats the yolk before hatching so that it can get energy and be strong to break through the eggshell. Sometimes the chick eats the egg yolk after it hatches. We heard the new baby chick chipping at us and it's brothers and sisters were chirping at it too.  We learnt that we need to keep the chick in the incubator until it is fluffy and them we can put it in the brooder box with it's brothers and sisters.

If you would like to see what we got to see this afternoon, watch the video below.

  1. The idea to telecast it live was fabulous and my son was so excited to see the chicks movement and never stopped talking about their experience in holding the cute little chicks.
